A PSA-graded card sells for 2–20× the raw price, and PSA 10 (gem mint) regularly multiplies a vintage Pokémon card's value by 50× or more. The four PSA sub-grades
PSA assigns one overall numeric grade from 1 to 10, but that grade is derived from four hidden sub-grades that the grading service uses internally. Each sub-grade is scored 1–10.

- PSA 9 — Mint: One minor flaw allowed. Strong premium over raw. The realistic target for most modern cards.
- PSA 8 — NM-MT: Slight wear visible on close inspection. Still a meaningful premium for vintage.
- PSA 7 and below: Visible wear. For vintage holos the floor is still well above raw; for modern, often not worth grading.
PSA grading costs in 2026
PSA tiers the service speed by declared value. The most-used tiers:
- Value Bulk (cards under $200): ~$18.99/card, ~65-day turnaround.
- Regular (under $499): ~$40/card, ~20-day turnaround.
- Express (under $1,499): ~$100/card.
- Super Express & Walk-Through: $250–$600/card for high-value pieces.
